What is the difference between an NSF Certified hot dog cart and one that is not?
Question:
What is the difference between an NSF Certified hot dog cart and one that is not? How do I tell the difference.
Answer:
Hot dog carts that are NSF Certified will display the NSF Mark. The presence of this mark means that samples of the cart were reviewed by NSF International and verified to meet minimum public health standards for design, construction, materials and cleanability. A list of the carts that have earned NSF Certification can be found on our website.
Carts that are not certified to this standard may not be designed in a way that protects public health. For example, gaps or openings could be too large and allow pests to infiltrate, or food handling surfaces may not be easily cleanable or produced from materials that are recognized as being safe for contact with food.
